A RIVERBOAT IN MORGAN CITY?

The Morgan City Council agreed last night to begin
discussions with the State which could lead
two local developers to locate a riverboat on
Lake Palourde.

Mayor Tim Matte and Councilman Louis
Tamporello said two local developers
would like to locate the Anna Belle
Lee Riverboat (pictured above)
on Lake Palourde adjacent
to Hwy 70, near the judge's reviewing
stand.

Tamporello said the riverboat would
be permanently docked, and used
as a seafood restaurant, with
space for banquet use such as wedding
receptions or functions.

The boat would also have a children's
arcade.

Although no casino gambling would be allowed,
video poker would be allowed on the boat.

The Anna Belle Lee is currently in operation
as a dinner cruise vessel in Ft. Meyers Florida.
It can seat roughly 250 people.
Tamporello said that if the State moves ahead
in favor of the vessel's relocation, the boat
could be in operation by May of 2010.
