ST MARY COMMUNITY ACTION OPENS CULINARY SCHOOL

St. Mary Community Action has opened a free culinary school for persons
interested in learning how to cook, operate a kitchen and perhaps a restaurant.

The classes are initially being held at St. Mary CAA’s central office, but will be moved to its permanent location on Magnolia Street in about two weeks.

The culinary school is being taught by Chief Donald Tulllier of Cypress Bayou Casino, who
has been a professional chef for twelve years, having worked at private country clubs, and at
Emeril Restaurant's in New Orleans.

He received his culinary training at Chef John Folse Culinary School in Thibodaux at
Nicholls State.

Almetra Franklin, CEO said the culinary school will impact the community immediately. ‘I am excited about the opportunity for people to receive wonderful training in an area that will benefit them,” Franklin said. It is needed and will pay off for families participating in the project.

Project Manager Denise Teno said the school is still accepting applications. For anyone interested in enrolling in the school, please call 337-828-5703.
