latest on assumption parish

The Assumption Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has the following information to be distributed accordingly:


All public and parochial schools in Assumption Parish will be open on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008.


The DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES will be taking applications for EMERGENCY FOOD STAMPS. They will distribute on at the COMMUNITY WORSHIP CENTER in PAINCOURTVILLE located at 6688 Highway 70 North.


Power has been restored to approximately 90% of residents throughout Assumption Parish. Entergy continues to work around the clock in efforts to restore 100% of Assumption Parish.


The CURFEW for Assumption Parish has been lifted.


The “BOIL WATER” order for Assumption Parish has been lifted.


The DEBRIS REMOVAL PROGRAM for Assumption Parish will begin on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008. The STATE will be in charge of collecting all construction debris from STATE HIGHWAYS. The PARISH will be in charge of collections on all PARISH ROADS. Please place all of your debris within the state and/or parish right of way so that it can be reached with a grabber. Contractors WILL NOT go onto private property to collect debris.
