ST MARY UPDATE

St. Mary Parish continues to show progress in Hurricane Recovery efforts. Electricity has been restored to 99% of St. Mary residents.

Disaster Relief Centers will open Tuesday September 9, 2008, at 8:00 AM. There are three locations for residents to apply for the disaster Emergency Food Stamp Program and the Corps of Engineers “Blue Roof Program”. The three locations are the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall and Cafeteria at 318 Third St. Morgan City; Franklin City Park Recreation Center at the corner of Gum St. and Hospital Avenue in Franklin, and the West St. Mary Civic Center at 1472 Hwy 318 in Sorrell. Those persons who are already receiving Food Stamp Assistance do not need to re-apply for the Emergency Food Stamp Program.

All three POD (points of distribution for food/water) locations
in St. Mary Parish have been closed and all recovery assets there have been moved to Lafourche Parish to aid in their recovery.

With the exception of the Medical Special Needs Evacuees we have all of our “Parish Assisted Evacuees” back in St. Mary Parish.

Debris Cleanup Operations are underway throughout the Parish.

Hurricane Recovery effort questions can be directed to the Office of Emergency Preparedness at 337-828-4100, Ext 135.
