St Mary Parish Sheriff's Office

Date: October 21, 2008

According to Sheriff David Naquin during the last 24 hours the Sheriff’s Office responded to 41 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Nick A. Broussard 30 yoa of 2011 Laurel Court, Mobile, Alabama was arrested on 10-20-2008 at 6:04 am for DWI, Improper Lane Usage and No Drivers License on Person. Deputy was patrolling Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, when above suspect vehicle was observed driving off the shoulder of roadway and back onto roadway crossing the center line. Deputy conducted a traffic stop and upon coming into contact with driver observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage upon his breath and person. After investigation suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Berwick Police Department to run on the Intoxilyzer 5000. Suspect had a test result of .188g%. Suspect was booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.

Matthew Braden 29 yoa of 3373 Evangeline Hwy, Jennings, La. was arrested on 10-20-2008 at 11:14 am on warrants for Monroe County Florida for Criminal Trespassing and Resisting Arrest with Violence. Deputy assisted U.S. Customs and Border Patrol with the arrest of above suspect whose vessel was docked at Diamond Services in Amelia. Suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bond awaiting extradition to Florida.

David R. Brown Jr. 20 yoa of 2304 Federal Ave., Morgan City was arrested on 10-20-2008 at 11:43 am for Domestic Abuse Battery. Deputy was called to Wal-mart in Bayou Vista in reference to a disturbance. Upon Deputy’s arrival security from the store advised that above suspect committed a battery upon his girlfriend in the store. After investigation above suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.

Kyle B. Holmes 24 yoa of 1202 Iberia St., New Iberia was arrested on 10-20-2008 at 2:32 pm on a warrant for Failure to Appear on the charges of Stop Sign Violation, Expired Inspection Sticker and Driving under Suspension. Suspect turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office after learning of a warrant for his arrest. Suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with a $1000.00 bond and was later released.

Scott C. Turner 26 yoa of 734 David Dr., Patterson and Robert W. Toups Jr. 29 yoa of 1915 River Road Lot # 9, Berwick were arrested on 10-20-2008 at 9:20 pm on warrants for Issuing Worthless Checks. Deputy was patrolling the Amelia area, when he conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 182. During investigation it was learned of warrants for both suspects arrest. Both suspects were placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on 1-12-2009.

Anthony E. Evans 31 yoa of 69 McCoy Ave., Satsuma, Alabama was arrested on 10-21-2008 at 1:28 am for DWI, Improper Lane Usage and Driving Under Suspension. Deputy was patrolling Hwy 182 in the Amelia area, when he was following suspect vehicle and observed him cross the fog line on two incidents. Deputy conducted a traffic stop and upon coming into contact with suspect observed an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and person. After investigation suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Berwick Police Department and run on the Intoxilyzer 5000. Suspect had a test result of .181g%. Suspect was booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.

The St. Mary Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, consisting of St. Mary Sheriff Dept., Morgan City Police Dept., Patterson Police Department Franklin Police Dept., Baldwin Police Dept., Berwick Police Dept., and Chitimacha Police Dept., report the following arrests:

Red October II

Barron Keith Harris 35 yoa of 518 Fourth St., Franklin was arrested on 10-20-2008 at 5:33 pm on a warrant for Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Agents of the Narcotics Task Force were continuing “Red October II” Operations when they were assisted by Franklin Police Department in located above suspect at his residence. Suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with a $100,000.00 bond at this time.

Ray S. Roy 36 yoa of 131 ½ Riverview Dr., Patterson was arrested on 10-20-2008 at 9:40 pm for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 3rd, Possession of Marijuana, Failure to Signal and Expired Inspection Sticker. Agents of the Narcotics Task Force were continuing to work Operation Red October II and was patrolling the Morgan City area, when they conducted a traffic stop on Brashear Ave. During investigation a search of suspect vehicle was conducted with suspected cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia being located. After investigation suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.
