The Morgan City Council appointed Marc Folse as its new Chief of Police Tuesday night, following a recommendation by Mayor Tim Matte.
Folse becomes the ninth man to head the department in 27 years. He succeeds former Morgan City Police Chief Jim Christy, who resigned from his post in January, with no press conference or public statement as to why. Christy has been Morgan City Police Chief since April of 2002.
Folse, 49 years old, brings 27 years of experience to the interim post as chief, having served all with the Morgan City Police Department.
Matte said Folse started his career as a jailer. He was promoted to Police Sgt in 1990, a Lieutenant in 1992 and a Captain in 2003.
