From Morgan City Mayor Tim Matte:
We are requesting that all citizens of Morgan City who evacuated for Hurricane Gustave do not return until further notice.
The City has lost 100 percent of electrical services, as well as water, and sewerage services.
The wastewater treatment plant was hit by a tornado. With repeated use of toilets, the sewerage will back up into your home or your streets. It may take several days before these services are available. We will let the public know when the services are available for our citizens to return. Any residents still in Morgan City should understand these conditions and that they are restricted to their personal properties. The generator at Teche Regional was compromised, so there are also no hospital services in Morgan City.
