Nicholls State University has sustained roof damage to several buildings including Ellender Memorial Library, Polk Hall and North and South Babington halls.However, the university is ready to resume normal operations but cannot due to the loss of power.
Entergy has provided no definitive information regarding when power will be restored. Once the university is notified when power will be restored faculty, staff and students will be contacted as to when the campus will reopen and classes will resume.
In the meantime, faculty members are asked to begin immediately to update and develop coursework on Blackboard and communicate with their respective students.
Faculty who need assistance or computer access to Blackboard can report to rooms 101 and 102 Betsy Cheramie Ayo Hall beginning Monday, Sept. 8, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
On-campus residents will be notified as soon as possible as to when residence halls will reopen and food service will resume.Please continue to monitor your Nicholls e-mail account and the university Web site, www.nicholls.edu
