The St. Mary Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, consisting of St. Mary Sheriff Dept., Morgan City Police Dept., Patterson Police Department Franklin Police Dept., Baldwin Police Dept., Berwick Police Dept., and Chitimacha Police Dept., report the following arrests:
Malcolm Smith 22 yoa of 1703 Fern St., Patterson and Robert Johnson 21 yoa of 1405 First St., Patterson were arrested on 11-6-2008 at 6:49 pm with Smith being charged with Improper Lane Usage, Possession of Marijuana 3rd and a warrant for failure to Appear on the charges of Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway, Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Reckless Operation, Speeding and No Drivers License and Johnson being charged with Possession of Marijuana 3rd. Agents of the Narcotics Task Force were patrolling the Morgan City area, when they conducted a traffic stop on Bowman St. Upon Agents making contact with Driver a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Agents received consent to search and located marijuana in the console of the vehicle. Also during investigation $1535.00 in U.S. Currency was also located on Johnson’s person and seized. After investigation suspect’s were placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bonds at this time.
According to Sheriff David Naquin during the last 24 hours the Sheriff’s Office responded to 33 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Brant Rock 34 yoa of 307 Onstead St., Morgan City was arrested on 11-6-2008 at 8:14 am on warrants for nine counts of Issuing Worthless Checks, Failure to Appear on the charge of Speeding and Failure to Appear on the charge of No Seat Belt. Deputy was patrolling Hwy 182 in the Amelia area, when he conducted a traffic stop. During investigation it was learned of warrants for suspect’s arrest. Suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with a $2133.50 bond at this time.
Vinnie Austin Sr. 33 yoa of 376 Verdun Lane, Franklin was arrested on 11-6-2008 at 1:30 pm on a warrant for Simple Battery. Suspect turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office after learning of a warrant for his arrest. Suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with a $500.00 bond and was later released.
On 11-6-2008 at 7:36 pm two Male Juveniles 14 yoa were arrested for Resisting an Officer and one was also charged with Disturbing the Peace. Agents were called to Grace St. and Joseph St. in reference to subjects selling illegal narcotics. Agents went to the area and located four suspects standing on the corner. Upon Agents approaching suspects they fled on foot with Agents giving chase. After a short foot pursuit two Juveniles suspects were apprehended and placed under arrest on above charges. Juveniles were processed and released to guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.
Brian K. Hoob 39 yoa and Sherry L. Call 35 yoa both of 406 Lagonda Lane, Bayou Vista were arrested on 11-7-2008 at 1:23 am with Hoob being charged with Failure to Signal, License Plate Light Required, Possession of Methamphetamine 2nd and Obstruction of Justice and Call being arrested on warrants for Failure to Appear on the charge of Possession of Meth and Failure to Appear on the charge of Careless Operation. Deputy was patrolling the Bayou Vista area, when he conducted a traffic stop on Lagonda Lane. During investigation driver was observed dropping an item to the ground. Deputy retrieved item and learned that it was Methamphetamine. Also during investigation it was learned of warrants for Call who was a passenger in the vehicle. After investigation both suspects were placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with Hoob having no bond and Call having a $5268.50 bond at this time.
