LAFOURCHE LIBRARIES TO HOLD FREE FAIRS

The “Our Home, Louisiana” Coalition is sponsoring several “Coastal Care Fairs” at public libraries around southeastern Louisiana. Lafourche Parish Government and the Lafourche Parish Public Libraries are teaming up with the coalition for two of these events.

A “Coastal Care Fair” will be held at the Thibodaux Branch Library (314 St. Mary Street, Thibodaux) on Monday, June 28. The other will be held Wednesday, July 7 at the South Lafourche Branch Library (16241 E. Main Street, Cut Off). The times for both events will be from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

These fairs will feature free health screenings, entertainment and activities for children, employment resources, local United Way agencies, stress management workshops, mental health counseling, and much more, all free of charge. Lafourche Parish Government will also have representatives there to discuss hurricane preparedness for families.

Representatives of Radio Disney will be spending quality time with the children through singing, dancing and playing, as well as introducing some new books. Prizes will be given away, and residents can also enter for a chance to win the grand prize: a trip to Dallas, Texas, to experience a dress rehearsal performance of the Jonas Brothers live in concert with special guest Demi Lovato and the cast of “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.” A winner will be selected after the final “Coastal Care Fair” event on Friday, July 30.

These events are being sponsored by the “Our Home, Louisiana,” which is a coalition comprised of several companies and organizations. The coalition’s main purpose is to improve the health and welfare of Louisianans affected by the crisis in the Gulf by providing health information and resources and other services related to the well being of the affected communities.

Morgan City will have its turn when the fair comes to the Morgan City Auditorium on July 13th, from 10am to 3pm.

Terrebonne will have its turn when the fair comes to the Parish Library on Grand Caillou, on July 27th, also from 10am to 3pm.
